Windows 8 has been with us for just about a year now and Windows 8.1 is set to take its place. Here are some of the tips and tricks that not only easy but help a lot of people get use to rocking the new operating system.
Make it Easy to Find All Your Applications
While there are applications you can install to replace the old Start Menu there really is not substitute for it with the Win + X menu. Sure a lot of people have gotten use to it by now but the fact remains that while useful it just not as quick and reliable as old faithful.
A good Windows 8 tip to finding all of your applications is to press and hold down the Windows key and then press the Q button or right click an empty part of the Start screen. What this will do is give you a list of all your currently installed applications.

Calling it Quits – Shutting Down Windows 8
No one likes to leave their computer or laptop on all the time so what do you do when its time to shut her down? Well to shut down your Windows 8 system on of the ways to do it is to simply move your mouse arrow or cursor to the bottom right of the display screen and click on the Settings icon and select Shut Down.
Another way to shut down your new 8 operating system is to hold the Windows button down while pressing I until you see the power button come up. Click the power button and select Shut Down again to turn off your system.
Some oldies but goodies that still work are holding Alt + F4 and CTRL + Alt + Del. They both work and if those are just something you are use to stick with the old and still not miss a beat.
It is Better to Be Safe Than Sorry
Starting Windows 8 in safe mode is a excellent way to start up your system if you are having issues or just in case you can’t start your system up normally. This is a great Windows 8 Tips and Tricks that will allow you easy access to your system to check for corrupted drivers and files.
Want to know how to boot up in safe mode in Windows 8? Of course you do. Unlike the old versions where you could just press F8 and be in safe mode this time around its the Shift key + F8 while the system is booting up. Only pressing and holding F8 will take you directly to Automatic Repair Mode.
You can also get into safe mode while already being in Windows. The trick for this is to press Windows + R and when the dialog box opens type in msconfig. From there just go to the Boot Tab and check the Safe boot box. Don’t forget to go back and uncheck the box however or your system will boot in Safe Mode every time.
