Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 Inch Tablet Specifications and Review

Sure the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 is not your Nexus tablet from Google or the Sony Xperia Z SGP311U1/B but this is not a tablet to be taken lightly.  Yeah we know you are going to have people who don’t like the tablet simply because they aren’t made by the company they like or maybe they just aren’t familiar with the slate.  Well Amazon has been making the Kindle for over three years now and people still are dogging the slates.

We wanted to take a look and review the new Kindle Fire HDX 7 from Amazon just to see what it has to offer.  People say that the only thing the tablets from Amazon are good for is using Amazon.  What we found is that though this isn’t your go to machine for both work and play for the value you will get one nice looking well designed tablet that allow you to have fun and buy until your heart’s content.  The buying part just might get you in a little trouble.

If you asked us and you didn’t the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX slate could easily be in the mentions of the iPads, Nexus, and other popular tablets.  When you look at the slate from Amazon you can easily see that they are creating a tablet with the perception that they needed to be able to compete with the champions yet be able to accomplish their own personal goals.

The Kindle Fire HDX 7 inch slate not only has a compact frame but also comes with high resolution screen and track speed interior runnings.  We are pretty sure that Amazon had the Nexus 7 and iPad mini with Retina display in mind when they were creating this lovely machine.  But this is not a machine that is going to take care of all your needs.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 Inch Tablet

The major goal of the Amazon slate is to get you use to doing things the Amazon way.  When we say their way we mean that they want you to use the tablet and like it of course but it is just the opening for you to interact with the company as a whole.  From shopping, movies, games, and music is all at the touch of your fingertips.

If you are looking for a tablet that is great for using third party apps and having a customizable interface this is not going to be your best friend.  Instead what this Android tablet is good at is being fast and a great 7 inch tablet for reading books, magazines, comics, listening to music, and watching movies.  The Kindle Fire HDX is a great 7 inch tablet is you are just a media and internet nut.

The design is well thought out and for the price you can’t expect the world.  This is not your Nexus 7 or iPad here.  If you are looking for a supermodel you are in the wrong place.  This Kindle is more like the girl next door that well treat you good.  It’s not one of the best looking tablet and many think it looks a little dull.  The machine is made from plastic and comes in black with sloping edges.  Its not too bulky and doesn’t feel cheap.

It comes in weighing 10.7 ounces and measures 7.3 x 5 x 0.35 inches and is very easy for you to hold in one hand.  Unless you are a very petite person you should have no trouble holding on to this machine with one hand.  The power button and volume control are located on the back for the Fire HDX and on the right side of the slate you will find the headphone jack and microUSB on the left.  The is a front-facing camera however there is no rear camera.

When it comes to the display the Kindle Fire HDX 7 offers up 1920 x 1200 resolution and 323 ppi of pixel density.  Though small this real estate helps movies look clean crisp and sharp.  We guess that Amazon wanted to make sure you see how great all of their products look before you purchase.  While the speakers are the loudest or the best they remain true to sound even when the volume is turned completely up.

When it comes to performance this Android tablet from Amazon runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2 under a custom Fire OS 3.0 UI.  The Fire OS 3.0 Mojito is a very vamped over Android device and to many it would be hard to tell that its even running an Android operating system.  If you are looking for something that is simple and easy to use while having the power if you need it than this Kindle Fire HDX is for you.

The tablet comes running Fire OS 3.0 withe 2.20GHz with Snapdragon 800.  The standard memory is 2GB and you get a Active Matrix TFT color LCD with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-FI.  The aspect ratio is 16:10 and its the first of tablet from Amazon to run the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.  They have almost 3 times more processing power than the previous Kindle Fire HD.  This helps the Kindle Fire HDX fire up apps and websites faster while also giving you better performance.

The slate is great for work and play or should we say better at shopping and play.  The Kindle Fire HDX 7 inch tablet from Amazon has the fastest processor in the mini tablet market.  The apps for this slate is limited and the design leaves you wanting more.  It’s definitely not up there with the iPads but not very far behind the Nexus 7.  This tablet is perfect for someone who basically just wants to read, listen and shop.  This is not your work type powerful tablet.  If you are on the market for something that is more work than play you would probably be more suited for the Nexus 7 and if you got money to speed you can take a look at the tablets from Apple.
