Are you in the market for a new business laptop?  The X200 series has always been a true choice and testament for those looking to handle business.  The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 Ultrabook laptop is one of the lightest more long lasting notebook on the market.  This new ultrabook from Lenovo does not fail and has a very durable design, great viewing angles, nice palm rest and one of the longest battery life out there.

The first thing you will notice about the ThinkPad X240 is the normal black color as the previous models of the Lenovo X200 series.  They kept is simple and clean and we really like it this way.  The palm rest has been upgraded from the previous one as it has been made a little wider to aloo more room for you to rest your hands when you are typing on the ThinkPad.

If you need something that is durable this ThinkPad X240 from Lenovo is the laptop for you.  The X240 is made to take a beating and will keep coming back for more.  THere is a spill resistant keyboard that keeps things like water, soda and juice safely away from your system.  If you have the case of the drops and bumps the internal roll cage along with the carbon fiber lid and magnesium bottom are sure to make you jump for joy.

Though this Lenovo ThinkPad is not the lightest ultrabook on the market it will do the job weighing at just 3.2 pounds.  The ThinkPad X240 measures in at 12 x 8.2 x 0.8 inches and you have two choices for batteries.  The 3-cell battery or the 6-cell extended battery, however adding the extended battery does increase the weight by a little though not much, to just 3.6 pounds.

The display is not 1080p and those with a sharp eye will notice the difference in the quality of movies and other things.  The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 Ultrabook comes with a 12.5 inch 1366 x 768 mega pixel IPS touch display.  While it doesn’t show like the T440’s models it does bring bright color and gives you plenty of room for viewing from different angles.  The X240 is slated to get the 1080p in the future.

When it comes to the keyboard there is a lot to be happy about even though it isn’t as responsive as the ThinkPad T440s.  The adjustment made to the ThinkPad X240 to lengthen the palm rest is a great joy and it being spill resistant is the other.  The keyboard also has two settings for the backlight so you can adjust as you need it.  The keyboard is very comfortable and you will have no problem knocking out business reports or papers that need to be turned into the office.

For those who enjoy using the touchpad and pointing stick this ThinkPad like the other before it comes with both and the TrackPoint is as expected very precise and easy to use for navigation.  The Touchpad is performs very well also you are able to get around the desktop without and sticking or jumpiness.

The ThinkPad X240 Ultrabook manages to stay cool through use and the performance is something you would have to work at finding something really wrong not to get this laptop.  Graphics are ok and if you just want to catch a few videos or movies on the X240 you should have no problem.


The X240 ThinkPad from Lenovo comes with 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-4200U and the Windows 8 Pro OS.  8GB of RAM and 256GB hard drive with a display that measures 12.5 and the native resolution coming in at 1366 x 786.

For the graphics cards we have the Intel HD Graphics 4400 with shared video memory.  The Wi-Fi is 802.11b/g/n using the Intel Centrino 7260 and is Bluetooth 4.0 capable.  The touchpad measures 3.9 x 2.6 inches and you will get 2 USB ports and a 4-1 card reader.

VGA, USB 3.0, Kensington Lock, Combo Headphone/Microphone Jack, DisplayPort and Ethernet rounds out the port selection.

The ThinkPad comes withe a standard 1 year warranty on parts and labor and you can get extend warranties that will cover you for up to four years.

If you are looking for a new laptop with great performance, a wonderful long lasting battery life, is both rugged and durable with productivity as its main focus go with the Lenovo ThinkPad X240 Ultrabook laptop.

Sure there are other laptops out there like the MacBook Air or the Dell Latitude, and even the ThinkPad T440s, but if you know you need great performance, a laptop with up to 20 hours of battery and business focus this ThinkPad is your choice.  That is of course is you are willing to spend the $1,550 is costs to own one of these.  If you want a ThinkPad with a smaller sticker tag you can check out the Lenono ThinkPad T440 or the ThinkPad L430 24684XU 14 inch.  Both of these are a few hundred cheaper than the X240.
