Low Cost Inspiron I15RV-953BLK 15 Inch Laptop from Dell Review and Specs

If you are like a lot of consumers out there you want to get the most for your money.  No you aren’t cheap but you just don’t want to spend a lot or can’t afford some of the high-end laptop’s out there.  Well the new low cost Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK 15 Inch Laptop can solve your problems if you are willing to spend a little cash.  Its not going to cost you much as this Dell Inspiron can be yours for just under $300.00.

This is no high-end laptop and this should be made clear.  Remember you aren’t paying in the high hundreds or thousands for this laptop so don’t expect top of the line performance.  If you are a designer, business user or just someone who needs a powerful notebook this is not for you.  However if you are going to be using this for daily activities, surfing the web or maybe your child needs a laptop this Inspiron I15RV-953BLK will work just fine.

The Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK only comes with the intel Pentium Ivy Bridge so it is no powerhouse.  As for the design you are going to get a nice little laptop that comes with a glossy casing with a black matte lid cover.  Sure its not the best quality but sturdy enough for the price of sub $300.  As with most Dell laptops the Dell logo is in the center of the laptop that helps finish off the look of the laptop.

When it comes to size the Inspiron I15RV-953BLK laptop comes with a 15.6 inch screen and measures in at 10.2 x 14.8 x 1 inches and weighs just about 5 pounds.  No too big or bulky and should be easily moved around the house or put in in your favorite carry bag and take it on the road with you for travel and light work.

On the inside as we mentioned before you are going to have to deal with the Intel Pentium 2127U dual core processor.  This is also not a laptop that is made for heavy gaming or video editing as it comes with the integrated Intel HD graphics card.  It comes with 4GB of SDRAM but you do have to option of upgrading this to up to 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM.  Though the Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK is the fastest and most powerful laptop on the market it can get the job done when it comes to daily tasks like data entry, web surfing, email, and streaming movies.


This Inspiron only allows video content to be shown in 720p and the widescreen display supports high enough resolution so that the images are still clean crisp and bright with color.  For sound Dell has equipped this little baby with Waves MaxxAudio 4 technology that gives and okay sound that is fairly clear.

Most of the ports for the Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK is located on the left hand side of the laptop.  On the left you will find the HDMI, RJ45, USB 3.0, and two USB 2.0 ports as well as the audio port.  To the right side of the Inspiron is another USB 3.0 port and the security lock slot.


This Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK comes with the Intel Pentium processor 2127U that features 1.9GHz processor speed and 2MB cache.  It comes with 4GB DDR3 memory that can be expanded easily to 8GB and 500GB hard drive with decent read and write times.

Warranty is 1 year limited on both parts and labor and the battery is a 4-cell lithium-ion with a high definition wide screen 1366 x 786 display for great viewing.  The double layer DVD±RW/CD-RW is the optical drive while it comes with a digital media card reader and Intel HD graphics.  The video memory is integrated with a built-in webcam and for your networking and wireless connection you get the Wireless B+G+N and integrated 10/100 ethernet LAN with BlueTooth capabilities.

The Dell weighs in at 5.5lbs or less and has HDMI output and a multitouchpad with integrated scrolling and gesture support.  For the OS you will find Windows 8 and if you are really on a budget you may consider this laptop to be the one for you.

To us there are surely a lot better laptops out there but the Dell Inspiron I15RV-953BLK has its place for those who just may need a second laptop or one that is more price right compared to being a powerhouse.  If money is the biggest concern this really fits the bill at under $300.  If you are looking for a more comparable laptop for the price check out the HP Pavilion 10-e010nr TouchSmart.  This is another good laptop for a low cost and gives you something to compare the Dell Inspiron to.  Let us know what you think?
