Sony Vaio Pro 13 The Lightest 13.3 inch Haswell Ultrabook Specs Review

It’s time to Sony for beat MacBook Pro 13.3 inch ultra portable laptop. Yeah, we already know if the Apple’s ultrabook is one of the famous 13.3 inch laptop on the market. Few days ago at Computex 2013 in Taiwan, The giant Japanese Electronics Company, Sony has officially unveiled the world’s lightest 13.3 inch Ultrabook, called as Sony Vaio Pro 13. Comes with a robust design, Sony’s BRAVIA technology and weighs only around at 1.06kg, the Vaio Pro 13 ultrabook is perfect choice for business user, Professional and road warrior that needs a portable laptop to take with for work and play wherever they go, at home, aero planes, mall or on desks in office.

Physically, Sony Vaio Pro 13 looks identical to the VAIO Pro 11 SVP11215PXB 11.6 inch ultrabook, except the size. It also comes with a carbon-fiber body with brushed metal look, a big Vaio logo on the black cover and an aluminum palm rest with a full sized keyboard that offers fast, secure and pleasant to type on, the newest Vaio’s 13.3 inch offers stylish design and good appearance, perfect for carry around with.

In term of size, the 2.4 lbs laptop has dimension in 12.6 x 8.5 x 0.67 inches, which mean it slightly lighter and thinner than the 2.7 lbs KIRAbook 13 i5 ultrabook which has dimension in 8.2 x 12.4 x 0.7 inches with weighs around at 2.7 lbs or the 13.3 inch Apple MacBook Air that weighing around at 2 lbs. According to reliable source, the integrated Lithium Polymer battery capable to produces up to 7 hours and 20 minutes of battery usage on single charge.

Speaking of performance, Sony Vaio Pro 13 is the first Vaio’s 13.3inch ultrabook that shipped with 4th generation of Intel Haswell ULV platform. For base configurations, the lightest ultrabook will be shipped with a Intel Core i5-4200U dual core processor that just released in Q2/2013. It also paired with a 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM and has a base clock rates at 1.6GHZ and backed by Intel turbo Boost technology to increase processor speed up to 2.3GHZ, provides more than enough performance to handle the most demanding office work and light multimedia tasks.Sony Vaio Pro 13 review


If you need more performance, the Vaio Pro also comes with a 1.8GHZ Intel Core i7-4500U dual core processor, backed by Turbo Boost 2.0 with support up to 2.3GHZ and paired with a 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM (4GB for standard model). The lowest model also equipped with a 128GB Solid State Drive, while the highest configuration will be shipped with a 512GB SSD. Both the ultrabook also comes with a micro SD card slot for memory expansion.

As the office and multimedia machine, this model also offers impressive viewing and sound experience. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 as graphics processor and a 13.3 inch Full High Definition capacitive touch screen display offers better color intensity, brighter images, contrast ratios and outstanding visually engaging. The display also support 10-point touch capabilities with support a 1920 x 1080 native resolution.

It also comes with X-Reality technology which brings stunning viewing experience for watch 1080p video playback and a pair of stereo speakers with ClearAudio+ technology located above the keyboard allows you to share clear audio and loud sound directly from the Sony Vaio Pro. Sadly, it lacks VGA port, Ethernet LAN and optical drive, but if you needed, you can also buy an external VGA adapter or external optical disk drive.

On the top of display, the High Definition web camera with internal digital microphone and Sony’s Exmor R sensor allows user to make clearer voice and bright face to face video communication. On the right edge, you will also find a 3.5mm audio jack, micro SD card slot to expanded memory space, two USB 3.0 port and a HDMI port as HDTV connector. For connectivity, user can use Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n to connect into wireless network, as well as NFC for easy share multimedia content.

Of course, as a Sony’s multimedia machine, this model also preloaded with Sony Entertainment Network access, ArtRage Studio, Sony’s PlayMemories Home, VAIO Movie Creator, Hulu Plus, iHeart Radio, Slacker and more.
