Windows 8 Tablet-Laptop Ready for you ASUS Transformer Book T100 Review

Christmas is right around the corner and honestly not everyone is looking to spend an arm and a leg on new computer tech.  If you are in need of a budget friendly laptop/tablet the ASUS Transformer Book T100 might just be what you are looking for.  No its not high-end but it also doesn’t come with high-end pricing.  For just $349 the Transformer Book from ASUS could change your life in a great way.

Sometimes people are quick to overlook something simply because of its price.  Normally sub $500 for a tablet/laptop would be considered lower end.  We think everything needs to be looked at and reviewed so we wanted to see just what ASUS did to the Transformer Book.

When it comes to build quality the ASUS Transformer Book is made to last and has some very good features.  It not only looks good but this is something that surely should be able to stand a few rounds with the kids.  However remember while this is sturdy for the price you can confuse the quality with that of a Apple tablet for $500 plus but it isn’t made parts that are going to fall apart or feel cheap.

Though now ASUS is generally making gaming machines and ultra books this T100 is a good example to show that the company is still capable of making a nice small decent tablet laptop.  The screen from this Transformer Book T100 give you 1,366 x 768 screen resolution and a wide nice wide viewing angles. You are also going to be pretty impressed with the ability to read indoors under harsh light conditions however you may find trouble using it outdoors.

The T100 from ASUS comes in weighing just under 2.4 with the dock and just at 1.2 pounds when just using as a tablet.  This is because the T100 is made from all plastic not like the metal some of the high end laptops are made from.   But hey remember you are not paying high-end prices and ASUS had to cut costs somewhere.

When you add the dock to tablet to make it more of a laptop you will find that you will have several ports to work with.  You get the USB 3.0 on the left side of the dock and on the tablet portion you will find both the headphone jack, micro USB, micro HDMI and the microSD slot.  On the bottom of the tablet you will find the docking connectors and on the left of the tablet you find the volume and home keys.

Though the speakers are loud they are not the best quality and the sound really gets distorted if turned all the way up.  The speakers are found on the back of the tablet on both sides and the SonicMaster it the technology on board this ASUS Transformer Book.  The T100is best if listened to while at medium volume.  Another thing you will find missing and we assume this is to help with cost is a rear facing camera.  It does come with a 1.2 megapixel webcam for video chat for those who use apps like ooVoo, Tango and Skype.

The ASUS Transformer Book T100 comes with almost 11 hours of battery life and the new Intel Bay Trail Atom chip.  The quad core Z3740 processor is clocked at 1.33Ghz and comes with 2GB of RAM.  The Transformer Book comes with Windows 8.1 and a 5 point multi touch screen.  Good color and viewing angles make the screen worth while but there is little space.  This is not something you want to try to use for high office work unless you are willing to use the only 1TB that ASUS gives for storage online.

The overall specs on the T100 are Window 8.1 operating system with a 10.1 inch displays at 16:9 IPS and 1368 x 768 screen resolution.  It features the Intel Quad Core Z3740 and can come with the 1.33GHZ base model or the 1.86GHz Turbo.

It also features the Intel HD Graphics 311MHz Base and come with 2GB of RAM.  For internal storage you have the options of 32 or 64 GB and measures 272 x 170 x 10.5 mm.  If you are looking for something different and like the idea of both a tablet and laptop this is something you may want to get your hands on.  When the cheaper Chromebooks came to the market more people decided to go that route.  Now withe the new netbooks we think a lot more people are going to be happy with the ASUS T100 sporting Windows 8.1.

This isn’t an expensive netbook and for the price you have to consider what you are going to be getting.  Yes the cheaper plastic is going to be prone to finger prints but it is a good tablet with good screen resolution and viewing angles.  For the $349 price the ASUS Transformer Book T100 is a good buy however you might want to check out the Acer C720 Chromebook that might be coming with touch screen display as well.
